KAREN M. SIEGEL, Ph.D.

Karen M. Siegel, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist licensed to practice in California. She earned her M.S and Ph.D. in Health Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology/Alliant University. She is trained in Clinical and Health Psychology, with special training in chronic pain, chronic illness, HIV/AIDS, end of life issues, as well as depression and anxiety. She has worked with adults and adolescents in the mental health field for over 15 years. Training and job experiences include crisis (ER) intervention, inpatient medical and psychiatric hospital settings, cancer patient and family support groups, HIV wellness, as well as individual and group therapy .

In addition to working with people who have chronic or acute health problems and their caregivers, Dr. Siegel also works with those who have no pressing health problems. She has an eclectic approach to psychotherapy, especially utilizing solution-focused and third-wave cognitive-behavioral therapies. Dr. Siegel works to help people become more accepting of inner thoughts and feelings, to clarify what matters most in their lives and act toward that end.

Dr. Siegel’s life and career experience has provided the opportunity to be exposed to a variety of cultures, and she has a healthy respect for diversity. She works with people from late adolescence to older adulthood, with issues that are universal to all humans including:

  • Depression / Anxiety
  • Chronic, acute or newly diagnosed medical problems
  • Grief
  • Trauma
  • Worry
  • Being "stuck" in the creative process
  • Job stress (especially professionals)
  • Transitional times
  • Relationship difficulties
