Barbara Varga, M.F.T. is a licensed marriage and family therapist who received her M.A. in Counseling from the University of Phoenix, San Diego in 1999. She earned her B.A. in Psychology at the University of California San Diego in 1997. Ms. Varga is a clinical member of both the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) as well as the San Diego Chapter of CAMFT.
Ms. Varga’s clinical experience has mostly been working with children, adolescents and their families. She started as a trainee working with the juvenile justice system rehabilitating adolescents. Ms. Varga completed her internship as a marriage and family therapist intern working with the National City Police Departments Juvenile Diversion program, doing individual and family therapy with children at Granger Junior High School, working with San Diego County’s severely emotionally disturbed, adoptive and foster family children and adolescents. Her most recent experience includes private practice work with high functioning youths and their families.
Ms. Varga’s has extensive expertise treating issues associated with physical, sexual and emotional abuse, adoptions, ADHD, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, learning disabilities, oppositional defiant and conduct disorders, post traumatic stress disorder, attachment, parenting, self esteem, and general family & blended families.
Ms. Varga utilizes Cognitive Behavioral, Structural, Solution Focused, and Family Systems approaches in treating individuals and families.
