Steven P. James, MD is a medical graduate of the University of Kentucky, College of Medicine.
He completed a residency training program in psychiatry at Cornell
University College of Medicine, New York Hospital, followed by a
psychopharmacology fellowship at Stanford University.
Additional post graduate training was completed at the National
Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), Clinical Psychobiology Brand in Bethesda, Maryland.
At NIMH, Dr. James developed further expertise in sleep disorders and
affective disorders. He later also obtained a Master of Business of
Administration (MBA) at the University of California, Irvine.Most
recently, Dr. James was the Medical Affairs, Sr. Medical Director for
Elan Pharmaceuticals followed by Global Vice President, Allergan Inc.
At Allergan, Dr. James was responsible for world-wide medical support
and post-marketing research of products in CNS, Ophthalmology,
Dermatology, Aesthethic Medicine, and Obesity. Dr. James holds active licensure in Arizona and California,
is a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
(Psychiatry), and an American Board of Sleep Medicine Fellow. He
currently maintains a limited consulting practice in psychopharmacology
and sleep disorders in San Diego, CA.
Dr. James is licensed and regulated by the Medical Board of California.
