GROUP WELLNESS PROGRAMS

DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)

Although this four month class is designed for people with BPD, it is also primarily for adult women with long histories of relationship problems and difficulties regulating their emotions.  Skills will be taught in the following one-month groupings:

  •     Distress Tolerance
  •     Emotional Regulation
  •     Interpersonal Effectiveness

In between each of the one-month skill groups, there will be one week of mindfulness training, which is the practice of being present and peaceful.  Participants will be required to work with an individual therapist so that they may process the material presented and integrate it with ongoing personal issues.

During the two-hour classes, there will be didactic presentations and class participation in homework reviews and new skill set practices.  Participants can expect to learn how to make positive changes in their lives while enjoying the support of the group and its facilitators.

If interested, please CONTACT US at (858) 356-5516 to set up an interview with the group facilitators, Penny Goffman, Ph.D. and Virginia Powell, LCSW.  This is a 16 week program on Mondays 1:30 - 3:30pm, starting January 18, 2010.
